I came to Nebraska to attend college. My family had just moved to the Midwest while I was a Junior in High School.
I’m currently juggling several branding and marketing projects at my full-time job while making time for freelance creative projects. Recently, my design for the new Lincoln city flag was selected as the winner as part of a city-wide contest. It’s been a real honor to have had my design selected and a real joy to work with local civic and business associations in order to implement the new flag brand throughout the city.
A goal I’m working towards is organizing my work life and my home life in a way that best serves and honors all my relationships to the extent that I believe they deserve. Maintaining a high level of integrity in my work is as important as the integrity of my time with my family. I’m setting quarterly goals for both my professional and personal life as part of trying to achieve much needed balance in my life.
A couple of fun facts about me? I was born in a tiny town on the foothills of a volcano in the country of El Salvador. And between kindergarten and when I graduated high school, I had switched schools fourteen times. As stressful as that might seem it made me really good at making new friends! The second half of my life has been trying to offset my upbringing by trying to connect to friends and acquaintances on a more profound, qualitative level.
If I had five minutes to prepare an hourlong lecture I would tile it “The Art of Art Direction” and would talk about my experiences in advertising and design these last 22 years. The highs, the lows and everything in between.
